It was perfect… the weather, the venue, the couple. My goodness, I’ve thought it on several occasions to be honest… just how I have been so blessed by getting to know the most wonderful couples and then being able to spend this day that is SO important by their side documenting it all. Mike and Melanie have worked their way right into the core of my heart. I feel like I have so much love for them both and I truly felt so humbled watching them fall in love all over again on their wedding day this past Saturday. It’s something that will never grow old to me.
Mike and Melanie fell in love many years ago now and have since travelled far and wide together soaking in the sights and adventures of this incredible world around us. I was fortunate to meet them for the first time 3 years ago at Melanie’s sister’s wedding (Sonya & Jeff) in Burlington. I immediately fell in love with the entire family back then and found that we had several common connections. When Melanie contacted me a little over a year ago to let me know that Mike and herself would be getting married and that they wanted me to photograph their day, well lets just say that there were definitely a few moments of butterflies in my stomach. I was so excited to see them all again!
Getting to know Melanie and Mike has been nothing short of wonderful. I love how these two love and respect each other. Their interactions are honest, loving and selfless. It’s quite inspiring. Those few minutes where Mike and Melanie first saw each other on the wedding day were enough to take your breath away. They chose to see each other prior to the ceremony privately in a ‘first look’ session and it was a moment that was filled with nerves, joy, and emotion. I just LOVE first look sessions on wedding days as they are truly all about that intimate moment of meeting your bride or groom and really being able to absorb each other in those first few moments. It’s not about the crowd, the ceremony, the details, etc. and there are no real distractions – only a sense of relief for the remainder of the wedding day in that you have already been able to have that key moment on your terms without hundreds of eyes on you.
Mike and Melanie were married at Knollwood Golf Club in Ancaster. The day was perfect for a lovely outdoor ceremony overlooking the course and a stunning reception would follow in the rustic old Knollwood barn. Everything about this day was beautiful… especially the gorgeous couple.
If I haven’t made it clear already Mike & Melanie, I am SO very thankful for being able to be a part of your wedding day! Chad and I are so happy for the two of you! individually you are two wonderful people, but the two fo you together are stunning, inspiring and truly beautiful. It was completely our pleasure to photograph your big day and we look forward to keeping in touch with you in the years to come!
