I honestly can’t think of a better way to have spent this new year’s eve than with Alex & Mark on their wedding day. From the moment I met Alex at her parents home in Burlington ON I knew that the day was going to be amazing. The house stirred with the energy of the 7 bridesmaids, and it was almost immediately that I noticed that amount of love and emotion in the air. Between the smiles, happy tears and pure excitement flourishing from room to room I eagerly anticipated the moment that Mark and Alex would first get to see each other on their wedding day. With my full support and encouragement, Alex and Mark had made arrangements to have a “first look” early in the day before the ceremony. The met at the Village Square in Burlington ON for their first glances at each other and to have some photos taken with their wedding party. Although the temperatures were a bit frigid at times, Mark and Alex made the best of every moment and snuggled in closely and so comfortably together making my job of capturing some great natural photos of them super easy!
I always adore when couples choose to have their photos taken prior to the ceremony. It alleviates the long wait for guests between the ceremony and reception, but has so many other advantages as well. Mark and Alex had a chance to see each other without worrying about being in a room full of guests. They could easily embrace and speak openly to each other right away without waiting to take cues from someone else. Once we wrapped up photos at the Village Square in Burlington, we quickly too a hop, skip & jump over to the Water Street Cooker which is conveniently located about a block away. The Water Street Cooker hosted the ceremony and reception beautifully. I have not yet had the opportunity to eat at this gem of a venue, but let me assure you that it is not a place you want to bypass for dinner if you are ever in the Burlington area. The meal was one of the best I’ve had and the atmosphere so unique and charming. In fact everything about the day was charming 🙂
Alex & Mark, I’ve so enjoyed this experience of getting to know the two of you! I just love how much love and joy there is within your family and friends. The true emotion and genuine words you spoke at your reception just reassured me of what I already suspected… that the two of you come from beautiful families, that you value the real moments and people in your lives, and that you are amazing souls and incredibly kind. I found it hard not to get emotional throughout the day watching the moments unfold. You are truly blessed with wonderful family and friendships and I am truly blessed to have met you both as well as those involved in your big day. Thank you so much for this awesome opportunity and I wish you only the very best in the years to come!
